Solihull College & University Centre to launch new Cricket Academy

20th July 2017

Solihull College & University Centre’s Cricket Academy, run in partnership with Complete Cricket will launch this September.

Students looking to study at the College can now study academic programmes alongside 8-10 hours of cricket programme every week. The free programme is taught by high quality coaches who are at least ECB Level 2 qualified, some even ex professionals. Cricket takes place in the sports halls in the winter and games are held against other institutions over the summer period. The cricket academy aims to hone the talents and skills of those who participate. Improving fitness and knowledge of the game allows students to progress within the industry and to pursue a career in the professional field.

Students will be studying towards 2 coaching qualifications including a Coach Support Worker qualification.

Head of School for Sport, Philip Trilloe stated ‘if you have a passion for cricket and want to combine academic excellence with sporting excellence then join the Cricket Academy’.

David Smith of Complete Cricket stated: ‘Complete Cricket are extremely excited to work with Solihull College to develop a unique opportunity. Our team of professional cricket coaches will work closely with the players on the academy to help them achieve their cricketing goals’.

The academy is based at Solihull College & University Centre’s Blossomfield Campus. Please contact Phil Trilloe at Philip.trilloe@solihull.ac.uk for further information.
