Apprentice Brodie secures employment
Wednesday, 22 March, 2017

Solihull College & University Centre student Brodie Setaro recently completed his apprenticeship at local Roadshow, Exhibition, Promotion and Events Specialists Commbus.

Brodie began his Business Admin apprenticeship 2 years ago after finishing school and chose an apprenticeship as he felt he could learn more and gain more experience whilst completing the programme as he could work and learn at the same time. Brodie had never worked in the events industry before and despite being unsure if the industry was where he wanted to be, he worked hard on his apprenticeship and now loves working in the sector.

Brodie comments “As my apprenticeship has progressed I have gained more responsibility within the company and have gone from learning the basic administration procedures to being able to meet with clients and become the Sales and Transport Manager.”

Commbus, who work on double decker buses to transform them into exhibition stands, offered Brodie the apprenticeship as they were looking to grow their family run business. The company have supported Brodie throughout his apprenticeship and after seeing his hard work over the past 2 years, have now offered him a permanent position at the company.

Brodie added “I’ve had great support from Clare and Mark at Commbus as well as everyone at Solihull College & University Centre. I now want to be able to learn more at the company, particularly the sales side of the business and work my way up. I have recently started my CPC Transport Manager course which will help me within my career.”

Brodie began his apprenticeship in the hope of being able to learn skills which would assist him in his future career and was surprised with how much he has learnt and how much responsibility he has been able to have whilst on the programme. Brodie concludes “I would definitely recommend an apprenticeship to other people. It doesn’t have to be at a huge company either as you can have a lot more responsibility and more support at smaller companies.”
