Thursday, 29 September, 2016

Over the last few years Solihull College & University Centre has built a successful partnership with Spa specialists Ragdale Hall in Leicestershire. Students studying towards their beauty qualification have been able to take advantage of the partnership during this time in a number of exciting ways.

Ragdale Hall visits students at the College’s campuses in Solihull and Smith’s Wood at the beginning of each academic year. The spa talks to the students about working for them and the experience they could gain whilst doing so, allowing students to then register their interest.

Many students at the College have been fortunate enough to complete work experience at Ragdale Hall, getting to grips with the industry with many impressing so much that they have received full-time job offers upon completion of their beauty qualifications.

Ragdale Hall only offers the chance of work experience to the most capable beauty technicians as students have to take part in a trade test to showcase their skills as well as undergoing an interview before they can be accepted onto the work experience placement. The successful students then take on their work experience at Ragdale Hall where they hope to impress to be offered a position within the spa on completion of their course.

Due to the amount of successful students that have passed through the doors  both at Solihull College & University Centre and Ragdale Hall, the College has been rewarded with Ragdale Hall’s ‘College of Excellence’ award.

The award is given to a college with high standards and those who meet set criteria including: high entry requirements for courses and being a place where the students are taught to a high standard. The College must also have a professional working relationship with Ragdale Hall, a high quality of students and a good amount of interest from students looking for employment with Ragdale Hall.

Solihull College & University Centre met these standards and have proven themselves year after year which is why Ragdale Hall has decided to reward the College with the award.

As a result the College will receive: a careers presentation each academic year for its students; have the opportunity to experience a ‘College of Excellence’ open evening to meet staff and watch treatment demonstrations; and five days guaranteed work placements for 2 students.

Students at Solihull College & University Centre will continue to be able to take advantage of the partnership between the College and Ragdale Hall, enhancing their career prospects and learning new skills which they can transfer to industry.
