Solihull College & University Centre launches ‘Amadeus Academy’
Friday, 29 July, 2016

Solihull College & University Centre is to launch a brand new ‘Amadeus Academy’ which will see the College once again partner with the multi-award-winning venue caterer, to offer young people the opportunity to begin their career within the catering and hospitality industry.

Amadeus are widely recognised for high quality food, service and continuous innovation at visitor attractions and meeting venues. Catering for over 4 million visitors a year across retail, conference and banqueting in venues around the Midlands region such as the Genting arena, the Barclaycard arena, the NEC, Cadbury World, Dudley Zoo and the ICC, Amadeus is an exciting business to be involved with.

Solihull College & University Centre is offering a number of young people the opportunity to gain an apprenticeship with the prestigious company. The College is offering apprenticeships for aspiring chefs as they launch their brand new Amadeus Academy this autumn.

The apprentice chefs will have the chance to develop culinary skills in a fast paced, exciting environment as well as having the opportunity to commence a structured programme to develop skills and knowledge. Apprentices will be working alongside professional chefs in a working kitchen throughout their programme, ensuring they gain all the knowledge necessary to progress within their career.

As well as the academy for chefs the partnership between Amadeus and Solihull College & University Centre allows those who are looking to pursue a career in hospitality the chance to begin an apprenticeship within this area.

The successful apprentices will have the opportunity to work across several of Amadeus’s home venues as well as develop hospitality skills in the workplace.

Apprenticeships are a great opportunity for young people looking to gain industry experience, professional qualifications and earn whilst they do so. Solihull College & University Centre has worked with Amadeus for many years offering a number of young people apprenticeships and has already seen many successes. A number of apprentices have gone on to find employment after their programme both with Amadeus and other companies. Last year saw hospitality apprentice Clodagh Finnegan secure a full-time position with Amadeus post apprenticeship, and Clodagh even received an award at the company Employee Brilliance Awards within her first year of employment.

Solihull College & University Centre is excited to offer the new programme to young people within the Midlands region and is looking forward to the many successful apprentices the programmes will produce.

Deadline for the applications for the apprenticeships is Thursday 18th August.
